Removing the bells
An expert from Whites of Appleton came up to Alvechurch on January 12th and 13th and worked with the ringers to take the bells from the tower. Our preparatory work meant we were able to make a fast start on the Thursday and we had five of the bells out by lunchtime. After lunch we lowered the three largest bells and then on Friday we took the frame apart and brought the beams down to the ground floor.
We lined the bells across the back of the church so that the congregation could see them at the services on Sunday. The photograph shows number 4 and 5 either side of the font with number 7 in front.
The Village magazine was there and gave us a piece in the January edition of their magazine. Richard Peach has been a great support to us over the past few years and has given us a lot of very welcome publicity.
