May 2008
April has been a quiet month in the tower so this will be a short report. Our Mini Eggs appeal has gone well. We sent some to Julie Kirkbride and you might have seen the pictures in the Standard as we gave her and her son a quick tour of the tower when she brought the tube back. As for the rest of the tubes, we've had about three quarters of them returned and we've raised just over £400 so far.
Most of the tubes came back over Easter but we're still getting a few back every week so don't worry if you've still got one on the mantelpiece. Keep putting the money in and hand it in when it's full. Any of the ringers will take it off you or just drop it through the door here. Please tape it shut before sticking it through the letterbox though. Cadbury's don't really make these tubes strong enough to hold money and they tend to fall apart when they're dropped.
The eggs proved far more popular that we'd imagined and we'd like to thank everyone who's contributed. We'd also like to thank the other people who've made straightforward donations to the fund. These have taken the fund well over £15,000 so we'll be updating our thermometer soon.
Next month we're holding a Table Top Sale in the Ark from 10:00 until 2:30 on June 7th. We still have a couple of tables available. Details from Karen on 0121 445 4980.
We also hope to be launching our sponsorship appeal next month. Several people have asked about the scheme to sponsor a bell but we can't get the leaflets printed until all the details have been hammered out and it's taking longer than we expected.
