May 2007
We had a busy month in May with the Table Top Sale and Lamb Roast and we'd like to thank everyone who supported us at both those events. We must also thank Milton Bowers for running the Stratford Marathon on our behalf and the Rector for the contribution from his illustrated world tour. These four events should have taken our total over the £10,000 mark but, with this having to be written so soon after the events, we're still collecting the moneys together and adding everything up and I can't give a firm figure yet.
Our next fund raising event is a concert by the St Laurence choir on Friday June 15th. I'm not going to tempt fate by giving any more details a month ahead of time but there will be posters around the village and announcements in church closer to the date.
After that, we've an Open Day on June 16th for members of our local association - the Worcestershire & Districts Change Ringing Association. It's the tercentenary of change ringing at St John's in Halesowen and many of the towers in the area will be open as part of the celebrations. You may hear some unusually fine ringing that afternoon.
The first half of the year has been a busy time for us and we're looking forward to a peaceful summer. Just the regular ringing on Sundays and a few weddings. Practice carries on as normal on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 and we're always pleased to see visitors, especially visitors who'd like to have a go at learning to ring.
