March 2007
Last months events, went very well. The dance was enjoyed by everyone who came and the only disappointment to us was that we found we had space for another dozen or so guests. We'll be able to offer more tickets next time.
The Quiz Night at Beoley was more enjoyable because we weren't organising it - it was just a social night out for us. We sent three team but none of us won anything. This was good news really; the winning team has to organise next year's event and we've got quite enough to do already.
Back at the bells appeal, our next event is a Table Top Sale on Saturday April 28th at 12:00 pm in the Ark at St Laurence. Tables are £5 each from Karen on 0121 445 4980.
After that we are holding a a Lamb Roast in the churchyard on Monday May 7th, the May Day Bank Holiday. The lamb will be cooking for most of the day on a wood fire and we will be serving the meal at 7:00 pm. The lamb will be the centrepiece of the meal at the end of the event but there will be a wide choice of food and drink to go with it. Watch out for more details around the village as the date gets closer and there will be final details in next month's Grapevine.
We now have enough wood for the roast and my next request is for some help with transport. We collected the wood in half a dozen small van loads and it's all in my back garden waiting to be split and chopped down to size. On the day of the roast we have to move a ton of logs up to the church. An hour's loan of a big truck or trailer would mean that we could do it in a single trip rather than having to shuttle back and forth. Phone me on 0121 445 1300 if you could help.
As always we end by saying "thank you" to the people who have helped us this month; Brenda Bartlett and Joan Spooner for their donations of raffle prizes; and Jill Smith and Robin Baxter for letting us take all the wood from their gardens.
