June 2008
The restoration project is becoming more real week by week. There's still a very long way to go but we've had chance to compare quotes for the work from various specialists and we're getting down to the details now. We've also had more visits from the WDCRA (Worcestershire and Districts Change Ringing Association) experts who have been involved in similar projects and been given a lot of useful advice about the best way forward.
Meanwhile the fundraising continues. The concert from the Gemini Choir was an enjoyable evening and raised another £350 for the fund. We must thank the members of the Gemini Choir for coming back to give us a repeat performance.
Mini Eggs are still coming in and the total keeps creeping up. We've just broken the £500 barrier and we've been utterly amazed by the response. What started as a small and simple exercise to fill an empty month seems to have caught the imagination of the village. There are still 29 egg tubes at loose in the village so if there's still one sat on the mantelpiece please do your best to send it home.
The social event of the month was our involvement with the Beoley Ringing Tour of Somerset. Some of us went down to Somerset with them to ring strange bells in strange towers with strange-sounding names. We're hoping to arrange a tour of our own later in the year.
Our next event is the Table Top Sale on June 7th. We already have tables for hand-made cards, cakes and refreshments, plants, books and puzzles and bric-a-brac but as I write there is still one table available. Phone Karen on 0121 445 4980 for details.
