St Laurence Bell Fund

July 2006

On the 15th July we held our first table-top sale in the Baptist Hall. As we were novices at this we were very pleasantly surprised at the support we received. We raised just over £350 and would like to thank everyone who helped, supported and donated to the event.

We have recently taken possession of our money "thermometer" . This was designed and built by Joseph Smith, a local sign writer, and we are very grateful for his kind offer of help. We haven't quite raised enough money to register on the thermometer yet but as soon as we have reached our first target we shall be displaying our thermometer for all to see.

We do have further events under discussion for the summer and we will let you know more as soon as the details have been decided.

Lastly we would like to send our best wishes to Hilda Kent who is spending a few weeks at Grosvenor House. Hilda, as you will all know, rang at St Laurence for over 55 years. She likes her room at the home but her only complaint is that she cannot hear the bells on a Sunday. We know that some of you sometime wish that you couldn't hear them either but we shall try to let them ring out energetically on Sunday to take our good wishes to Hilda.
